CABIN BY THE LAKE???
Well not exactly!! Cabin here on REINS ground!! That’s right a one bedroom, one bath, full kitchen, air conditioned cabin was generously donated to REINS by the Cabin By The Lake, Inc. Foundation. Cabin by the Lake, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was formed 10 years ago by Mr. Mike Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap and the Foundation are dedicated to providing camping facilities to individuals with physical challenges with special emphasis on those that are wheelchair bound. Since its inception, Cabin by the Lake, Inc. has provided 7 cabins to organizations serving people with disabilities in North San Diego Counties. Three of their favorites are Camp Pendleton, the City of Escondido, Camp Mataguay-Boy Scout Camp.
Here at REINS we are so very privileged and honored to have been chosen as a recipient of such a donation! It all started this past February when REINS gave a speech to the Escondido Sunrise Rotary Club. During our presentation and upon the sudden realization that we served so many individuals with disabilities, Mr. Dunlap saw a need and knew he had to get involved.
Well fast forward! Since then these have probably been the quickest few months in REINS history! In less than two months with contractor Kelly Hedges (from Hedges Construction) at the helm, our very own Cabin has been put into place. We are hoping to launch our first Therapeutic Riding Retreats and Camps soon. Transitioning is very hard for so many of our students who ride here at REINS. How exciting it is going to be for our families to come to a camp where they all feel so comfortable, safe and are able to have fun!
We at REINS are so excited to be part of such an expansion and to complete a vision we have had for REINS all these years. Please come by and let us share with all of you this GREAT HAPPENING. REINS is open six days a week Monday thru Saturday 9-5p.m.
