Why do we want to install Solar Power at REINS?
Financial Stewardship: We’ll save over $85,000 in the first 6 years alone! Our average electric bill runs $1200-1500 per month here at the ranch. This will help us maintain our financial stability as a non-profit.
Environmental Stewardship: We’ll also reduce our CO2 impact by over 30 tons per year! We are excited to have the opportunity to add this eco-friendly feature to our property. Sustainability has always been important to us.
How can you help?
REINS is going solar in 2018 and we want you to be a part of our plan to reduce our energy costs in the future. To do this, we need to raise some funding now, and this is where you come in!
Thank you to the County of San Diego Neighborhood Reinvestment and Nordson Corporation Foundation for the initial seed money of $15,000 to begin the project. Our Board of Directors has committed an additional $5000 from our endowment (this represents slightly more than 25% of the income from the fund over the last 8 years) to continue this effort towards a goal of raising $75,000. Future energy cost savings are expected to be $14,000 per year!
With a contribution of $100 from 500 donors we will reach our remaining goal of $50,000 for 2018!
What we love most about this is we are reducing our carbon footprint and creating an opportunity to use the money we have been spending on energy bills in the past for programs today.
Thank you for our Solar Energy Project seed money!
