About the Tack Shack

The tack shack at REINS is your source for all things horsey!REINS Tack Shack is a thrift store full of horse equipment and apparel. The store has a wide variety of used clothing, Western and English tack, horse care products, blankets, wraps, books, and more!

In 1999 we found ourselves brimming with tack donations for our therapeutic riding lessons. We had so many donations that we could not use them all. We decided to open up a used tack store. In a little 10 x 10 Storage shed (that was really more of a shack) we opened up one day a week to resell all the generous donations we could not use.

In 2002 we built a new building for our store. Because of its humble beginning we named it the Tack Shack. Today the Tack Shack is open five days a week and is run with the help of volunteers. Barbara Larsen a REINS Volunteer and Board Member is the manager, taking care of the planning and inventory of the Tack Shack. We have customers from all over Southern California and donations from as far as Minnesota. All proceeds from the Tack Shack go directly to REINS and our special students.
